Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of 12 years of expertise to lead a team of 8 engineers working on complex mechanical engineering projects. The role focuses on the design, development, and oversight of mechanical systems for various vertical structures. This leadership role requires strong technical knowledge, project management skills, and the ability to drive team collaboration while delivering innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Mechanical System Design: (EI Associates)
Building & Vertical Structures:
Lead the design and integration of mechanical systems in high-rise buildings and commercial facilities.
Ensure efficient HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems in projects, optimizing energy performance.
Design mechanical systems
Towers & Cooling Towers:
Develop and oversee designs for mechanical systems in towers and cooling towers, ensuring proper performance in high-stress environments.
Implement advanced materials and technologies to optimize mechanical systems for durability and performance.
Leadership & Team Management:
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 8 mechanical engineers, providing guidance, performance feedback, and career development support.
Delegate responsibilities effectively to ensure high-quality work and timely project delivery.
Foster a collaborative work environment, encouraging innovation and problem-solving within the team.
Provide technical leadership during project meetings with stakeholders, clients, and multidisciplinary teams (architects, structural engineers, contractors).
Project Management:
Manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously, ensuring that schedules, budgets, and quality standards are met.
Prepare and oversee project proposals, technical documentation, cost estimates, and risk assessments.
Work closely with the engineering director, project managers, and other team leads to coordinate efforts and resources across different disciplines.
Problem Solving & Innovation:
Lead troubleshooting and problem-solving initiatives for mechanical issues during the construction and operation phases.
Develop and implement innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable mechanical designs, reducing energy consumption and improving system efficiency.
Continuously seek opportunities to incorporate cutting-edge technologies, materials, and methodologies into mechanical engineering solutions.
Compliance & Safety:
Ensure all mechanical designs comply with local, state, and national regulations and building codes (e.g., ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA, IBC).
Conduct quality control checks to ensure designs are robust, safe, and meet all project specifications.
Provide regular updates on project progress, technical challenges, and solutions to clients and internal teams.
Qualifications:
Licensed or ability to obtain the Professional Engineer license in the States of NY and NJ
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on vertical structures
Proven ability to lead and manage a team of engineers.
Experience with mechanical system design in high-rise buildings
Proficiency in mechanical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, HVAC software).
Familiarity with building codes, safety regulations, and standards related to mechanical systems (ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA, IBC).
Strong project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple large-scale projects.
Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
