We are currently seeking applicants for a full time Engineer for Laundry Services.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Engineer is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of assigned facilities and all equipment, both preventive and repair. Ensures that all laundry equipment stays in peak operating condition. Responsible for preventive maintenance schedule and program, and regularly reviews operations for improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience: Minimum five years related experience in facility and equipment maintenance including proven ability to troubleshoot and diagnose both mechanical and electrical problems. Supervisory experience with strong leadership skills. Experience in a production environment, and experience in customer service required. Must have excellent communication skills, good physical stamina and strong mechanical abilities. Experience working with persons with disabilities preferred. Physical Requirements: Requires standing, walking, sitting, reading, stooping, climbing ladders, crawling in/through low spaces. Ability to lift 50 lbs. with full range of motion. Hand and finger dexterity, clear speech, hearing/listening, reading and writing, basic math and analytical skills. Some heavy lifting and moving, heavy equipment. Security Levels: Clearance through criminal background investigation, drug screening, and acceptable DMV record required. Computer password. Keys to assigned buildings and vehicles. Security password to building alarm systems, as assigned. Training: Complete all trainings as required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work is performed inside and outside, as well as in industrial settings. Outside work is sometimes on building roof, in varying temperature extremes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Perform ongoing preventive maintenance and repair work on facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems.
2. Maintain, operate all systems and associated equipment, electrical equipment, plumbing systems.
3. Perform facility and equipment inspections and report on condition affecting operations.
4. Monitor and supervise assigned preventive maintenance schedules and contracts.
5. Prepare and submit summary reports of conditions in buildings and recommend actions to be taken.
6. Notifies the Operations Manager immediately if a breakdown requires more than two hours of interruption in production allowing the Operations Manager time to activate the contingency plan if necessary.
7. Review and understand equipment and methods of operation, fire, life, safety, and other systems.
8. Comply with all safety procedures and requirements.
9. Maintain compliance to City, County, State ordinances and codes.
10. Keeps laundry plant and equipment clean, uncluttered and in good working order.
11. Monitors all chemical and maintenance supplies, including automatic devices and boiler water.
12. Coordinates repairs with outside contractors.
13. Respond to emergencies and support any afterhours building needs and activities as required.
14. Attend training sessions as required.
15. Supervises assigned personnel which includes recommendations for hiring, firing, conducting performance evaluation, and training, monitoring performance and conducting problem resolution.
16. Order all repair parts and facility supplies.
17. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or designee.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
1. Knowledge of industry procedures, tools and equipment and effective quality control practices
2. Knowledge of organizational policy and procedures
3. Knowledge of customer services standards and practices, conflict resolution and negotiation
4. Skill in use of Microsoft Office software applications
5. Skill in organizing, managing, and prioritizing multiple tasks
6. Skill in efficiently and effectively managing resources, such as time, money and technology
7. Skill in maintaining industrial equipment, including routine repairs and troubleshooting
8. Skill in communicating effectively both orally and in writing
9. Ability to utilize critical thinking process to facilitate decision-making
10. Ability to meet standards set for the quality and timeliness of work
11. Ability to maintain detailed and accurate records
12. Ability to schedule workload, set priorities and manage time
13. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and exercise good judgment
14. Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
