Summary of Role

EW Group’s event success is built on disciplined logistics, efficient inventory management, and seamless on-site execution. Our operations team plays a mission-critical role in delivering exceptional client experiences — overseeing everything from asset management and transportation to event setup and breakdown.

We are seeking a highly dependable, hands-on Event Crew Chief to support our event operations, and will report to the Events Coordinator. This role is ideal for a natural leader who thrives in structured environments, takes pride in operational excellence, and is comfortable leading a small team in dynamic, fast-paced settings. The Event Crew Chief will lead and work alongside a crew of part-time event staff, with the opportunity to assist in recruiting, training, and supervising crew members.

Key Responsibilities

• Crew Leadership & Supervision
  • Lead and supervise event crew members during load-ins, event execution, and breakdowns
  • Assist with interviewing, onboarding, and training event crew members
  • Work with full-time event staff on tracking critical crew tasks in team project plans
  • Assign tasks, provide clear direction, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (“SOP’s”)
  • Serve as the on-site point of contact for crew-related needs during events
• Operations & Logistics
  • Oversee EW Group and client storage locations, including inventory tracking, organization, cleaning, and general maintenance along with minor equipment repairs
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory lists
  • Collaborate with EW Group team members to create and execute detailed event packing lists
  • Oversee and participate in packing, loading, unloading, and transportation of event supplies and equipment-
  • Drive box trucks (14–22 ft; CDL not required) to and from event sites, client offices, vendors, and storage facilities
  • Perform on-site event setup, on-site execution, and breakdown tasks
  • Work closely with the Events Directors and Event Leads on logistics planning and execution
  • Handle EW Group and client equipment with care, accountability, and professionalism
• Note: Training will be provided for most responsibilities.

Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience in leadership, crew supervision, or team-based operations strongly preferred
• Logistics experience a plus
• Previous experience driving box trucks preferred (14’–22’; CDL not required)
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Ability to drive for 2–3+ hours at a time
• Ability to safely lift, move, and transport heavy materials as required
• Comfortable working weekends and extended event days, especially during peak spring and fall event seasons
• Strong leadership presence with the ability to give clear direction and maintain team morale
• Ability to adapt to changing conditions (traffic, weather, last-minute adjustments)
• Experience with or ability to learn safe and efficient truck packing and equipment handling
• Professional, calm, and client-facing demeanor
• Willingness to perform physical labor and remain on your feet for extended periods
• Basic proficiency with email, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), chat tools and Zoom; work with project management tools a plus
• Dependable, safety-minded, and detail-oriented with a strong work ethic

Availability & Commitment

• Approximately 20+ event weekends (primarily Thursday–Sunday) during peak spring and fall event seasons; exact dates discussed during the interview process
  • Spring Peak: April–June
  • Fall Peak: September–November
• Estimated annual commitment: 80–90 days / 400–500 hours
• Flexibility to work additional weekday hours leading up to events
• Willingness to stay overnight in hotels when working multi-day events
• December-March: Approximately 40 hours total, with potential for increased hours based on availability and skillset
