Food Safety Quality Engineer Full Time

As the Food Safety Quality Engineer (FSQE) you will ensure all quality and regulatory related activities meet company service, quality, and food safety objectives. This position provides quality system leadership and technical direction to coordinators, supervisors, and floor level employees. The FSQE ensures that all quality and food safety programs and trainings are completed and documented and acts as the primary floor level quality and food safety advocate for the company.

Responsibilities Include:

• Provide Quality and Food Safety leadership & direction through technical mastery in the areas of: regulatory compliance, allergen, microbiology management, and sanitation excellence.
• Provide plant technical support for projects, Research and Development (R&D), reformulations, and new product startups.
• Partner with operations, maintenance, sanitation, and engineering to continuously reduce risk within operating plant.
• Conduct Food Safety and Quality Inspections and Internal Audits; share and discuss results with the floor staff.
• Lead investigator on Quality Incidents CAPA (Corrective Action/Preventative Action) and related reporting.
• Own and manage the Food Safety Quality Scorecard: train staff on Scorecard and report progress and updates.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related field.
• 1 year of related experience, 3+ years preferred.
• Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) experience, implementing and maintaining the program (SQF/British Retail Consortium (BRC) or equivalent).
• Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) certified with experience in implementation of the program.
• Capable of risk management, managing issues to assure proper control, minimize losses, and provide analysis to eliminate future occurrences.
• Extensive knowledge of comprehensive food quality/food safety standards.
• Well versed in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), personal safety, and regulatory compliance.

Preferred

• SQF Practitioner.
• Preventive Control Qualified Individual training.
• Knowledge of the rice industry and processing/production systems.
