About this role:
The Business Analyst is a key role for the USGA focused on creating new and innovative services for our organization that transform how we work together. You need to be a passionate, talented analyst with project management skills, business acumen, analytical abilities, technical skills, as well as superior written and verbal communication skills.
The Business Analyst works in a cross-functional, fast-paced team environment focused on delivering value-added services that exceed customer expectations. You must be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, able to think big (while paying close attention to details), and enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
The Business Analyst also provides direction and guidance to business partners to enable information technology (IT) solutions that best meet the business needs. The individual serves as a liaison between IT and business end users and works with business partners to analyze business requirements and reviews/produces specifications for any change to technology applications. The business analyst works with the internal and external development team to ensure that they understand the specifications and collaborates with implementation and operations team to document system scenarios. They will also help develop a change management and training plan based on project requirements.
What you’ll do:
Builds and maintains strong relationships with business partners and acts as a liaison between Internal and external Information Technology teams and business partners. Develops use cases to explain/demonstrate business requirements and specifications to IT team and contribute to business partner’s perspective during design reviews.
Reviews all product intake to assist with defining defects and partner with the business on writing user stories.
Develops and oversees the requirements traceability component of requirements management.
Performs requirements elicitation, documentation, review and approval.
Interacts with the business owner to oversee the requirements change request process.
Facilitates requirements and design sessions with user community and communicates these requirements to the development team for the design and implementation of solutions.
Communicates business priorities to the technology organization to drive effective business solutions.
Provides input to the development of formal business cases for all assigned projects.
Partners on ideation during Innovation Phase with third party vendor.
In partnership with QA, ensures UAT is complete and business requirements are met.
Where you’ll be:
This role will be based at our Liberty Corner, NJ campus on a hybrid schedule. Employees are expected to spend 3 days per week working in the office, between Monday – Thursday.
What you bring:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer technology, business administration, engineering or related field required.
4 years’ experience working as business analyst in full SDLC lifecycle for software maintenance / development / implementation projects with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
Project management experience, ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently with strong organizational, negotiation, documentation, and vendor management skills.
Exposure to a wide array of data and systems including Event Management, handicapping, Finance and legal applications. Experience supporting any of these areas and their IT needs.
Ability to serve in a Business Analyst role for planning and requirements. Seamlessly pivot to a Project Management role for implementation and on-going support as needed.
Ability to manage backlog intake and translate to a manageable agreed upon set of deliveries for sprints. Ensure all items are clearly documented and prioritized according to goals and dependencies aligned with product owner.
Drives planning process for story review, necessary follow ups and approvals in advance of each sprint kickoff for all user stories across workstreams (web, mobile etc).
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) as well as analytical skills to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources and then to be able decompose high-level information into detailed business requirements.
Ability to translate business needs into functional and non-functional requirements.
Actively participates in sprint reveals and retrospectives; Participates in Product Demo’s during Innovation and Development with third party vendors.
Self-motivated and proactive with strong end users focus and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
Knowledge of the practices of Golf and/or Sports Industry as well as the non-profit business model is a plus.
International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or Project Management Institute (PMI-PMP) certification is a plus.
