About the Role: This role is responsible for deploying and integrating microwave communications equipment and related networking components at customer sites. This includes physical installation, configuration, and testing to ensure proper alignment, connectivity, and performance. Collaboration with teams, adherence to safety regulations, and strong technical skills are crucial for success in this role.
Responsibilities:
- Reads and interprets complex system drawings including T1/E1/DS3/E3/IP plans, channel plans, and network management interface block and levels.
Configures, programs, tests, and debugs microwave radios, network management systems, smart channel banks, digital access cross-connect equipment, IP networking and OEM equipment management systems. - Performs end-end network integration and provides over-the-shoulder training to customers on newly installed systems.
- Installs, tests, and troubleshoots variety of Aviat Networks and OEM equipment including microwave radios, multiplexers, IP routing, network management systems, DC power systems, and battery plants. Also install cable trays, signal and power wiring, generators, and waveguide pressurization equipment.
- Tests and troubleshoots complex integrated linear and ring systems, using state-of-the-art test equipment, network management, diagnostics software, and order wire systems.
- Installs, tests, and commissions all indoor, split mount and all outdoor microwave radio systems including antenna & line sweeping. Proficiency in use of microwave power meters, variable attenuators, spectrum analyzers and antenna sweep gear is highly desirable.
- This position primarily entails installing and commissioning IP-based radio and networking systems. Proficiency in Cisco, Xtreme Networks, Fujitsu, Xycel, ProVision, ProVision Plus, and Eclipse is highly desirable. Experience in conducting Ethernet testing, including BER, PER, and RFC 2544 (throughput, latency, frame loss, and back-to-back), using industry-standard test equipment such as JDSU and Agilent, is preferred.
- Timely submission of daily progress reports, expense reports, and strict adherence to project budgets are essential requirements for this role.

Qualifications & Competencies:
- The preferred qualification for this position is a bachelor’s degree in computer science, military training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 7+ years of experience in Network Integration and/or Microwave Systems Maintenance is a preferred qualification for this position.
- Cisco CCNA certification or equivalent military certification highly preferred.
- Strong service orientation, exceptional communication skills, and excellent organizational abilities are highly valued for this position.
- Advanced problem analysis and problem-solving skills are preferred qualifications for this position.
- Composed and confident demeanor, along with a professional approach to communication with all customers preferred.
- Ability to regularly travel to customer sites for weeks at a time preferred.
