Employment Specialist – Full-Time and Part-Time – For 65 years, Eggleston has created education, training, and employment for persons with disabilities. Eggleston is currently seeking applicants for a full-time or Part-Time Employment Specialist. The Employment Specialist will conduct assessments, provide job development, placement, and training, and provide support services for persons referred for Supported Employment services; must render a minimum of 125 hours per month of direct service to meet requirements of performance. Develops relationships with community employers to create job opportunities and links customers with community resources.
40 hours per week. Days and hours can vary based on caseload.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties and responsibilities represent the essential functions of this job that an individual must be able to perform with or without a reasonable accommodation:
– Performs comprehensive assessments of assigned individuals to determine strengths, preferences, skills, abilities, and training and/or support needs
– Develops Individual Plans for Employment (IPE) based on assessment information
– Assists individuals with obtaining support and services necessary to achieve the goals of the IPE
– Implements the IPE by providing “hands-on” skills training on the job, in the community, and/or in a classroom setting
– Develops job leads, job placements, resources, and referrals by marketing the program to potential employers and community partners
– Maintains accurate documentation consistent with program guidelines, DARS, CARF, and/or Medicaid standards
– Successfully negotiates with contractual agencies, employers, other service providers, and significant others for the best interests of the corporation and the customer
– Provides transportation, travel training, and life skills training to referred individuals as appropriate
– Attends staff meetings, case review meetings, and staff training activities as required
– Other duties as assigned
– Local travel is required using a personal vehicle

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, & EXPERIENCE:
The following qualifications represent the training, education, certifications, licensures, and/or work experience required to perform the essential duties and responsibilities successfully:
– Degree in Human Services or related field, or any combination of equivalent education and experience
– Minimum three years of experience providing supported employment services to individuals in the community
– Knowledge of vocational rehabilitation and DARS
– General knowledge of a broad range of disabilities, including developmental disabilities, substance abuse, mental health, and physical or sensory disabilities
– Sound professional ethics and boundaries
– Excellent oral and written communication skills
– Capable of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, families, referral sources, and members of the community
– Ability to organize, manage, and prioritize multiple tasks and quickly adapt to changes in job routines
– Effective use of technology and information systems, including, but not limited to, Microsoft 365
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Physical demands: Performing the duties of this job requires near visual acuity, the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds, and gross manipulation. Additionally, the employee:
– Must be free of tuberculosis in a communicable form
– Must be able to lift 20 pounds
– Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods (up to two hours)
– Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
– Must be able to provide direct support services for individuals with physical and/or intellectual disabilities, which may involve crouching, stooping, or reaching/below shoulder level and overhead
Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be in an office or indoor setting, or externally in community settings. Indoor environmental conditions will vary according to the weather conditions prevalent at the time, and exposure to inclement weather and extreme temperature variations can be expected when in community settings. The noise level in the work environment will vary. While working with individuals with mental/physical disabilities, exposure to physical risks from behaviorally challenged individuals and contact exposure to human pathogens and/or biohazards is possible.
