The Accounting Manager will play a vital role in maintaining the financial health of our organization. This position will oversee our company’s financial data and compliance by maintaining accurate books on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and daily financial entries and reconciliations. They will also manage our team of accountants, focus on tax compliance and ensure all our tax returns are prepared and submitted correctly and on time. The ideal candidate possesses excellent leadership skills, business acumen, and experience in both accounting and tax preparation.
Responsibilities:
Financial Management: Oversee and manage the daily operations of the accounting department including accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll, utilities, treasury, budgeting, cash forecasting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets reconciliations, check runs, fixed asset activity, debt activity, etc.
Tax Management: Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings, including preparing annual tax returns. Provide innovative tax planning and review complex income tax returns.
Team Leadership: Manage and lead a team of accountants, ensuring clear guidance, timely feedback, and professional development opportunities.
Reporting and Forecasting: Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements, ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting, manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
Audit: Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit, and conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance with financial regulations.
Compliance: Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (Master’s degree preferred).
CPA or other relevant qualification is a plus.
Proven experience as an accounting manager or supervisor, preferably within a tax preparation context.
Solid understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices (GAAP).
Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software (experience with [specific software] is a plus).
High attention to detail and accuracy, ability to direct and supervise.
Exceptional communication and leadership skills. Quickbooks certified is a must.
