Role:
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) performs visits as ordered under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. Responsible for executing the patients’ Occupational Therapy Plan of Care (POC) as established by the Occupational Therapist (OT) and the Physician’s orders. Delivers high quality professional occupational therapy and education, and performs therapy skills with a high degree of proficiency.
Qualifications:
Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Assistant school accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA)
Current OTA licensure within the State of Florida
Certified with the National Certification Examination of the American Occupational Therapy Association
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) for Home Health
Minimum of two (2) years of clinical Occupational Therapy Assistant experience in an acute or Rehab setting; Preferred for Home Health: Two (2) years of Home Health Occupational Therapy Assistant experience
Demonstrated adequate knowledge of clinical situations unique to providing services to the homebound elderly population
Mobile Driver – Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance per Company policy
Able to travel and reliable transportation to meet visit schedule
Flexible schedule to meet the needs of patients
Ability to use equipment with visual and auditory mechanisms
Ability to manage stress
Ability to physically access any home (i.e., navigate stairs and narrow spaces, tolerate heat and lack of air conditioning) in any area the Company serves
Ability to perform the essential functions and physical requirements (including, but not limited to: lifting patients and/or equipment, bending, pushing/pulling, kneeling) of the job with or without reasonable accommodation

Job Responsibilities:
Provides occupational therapy treatment and interventions to patients based on POC established by Occupational Therapist (OT) and under the supervision of the OT.
Provides training, guidance, and supervision to program staff and patients/family members regarding therapy.
Recommends therapeutic exercises to OT.
Participates actively in the Home Health Case Conference and/or Hospice Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) by providing clinical expertise in team planning, problem solving, and processes.
Fulfills all administrative requirements including, but not limited to, collaboration with other Therapists, attendance at team and staff meetings, and recording and tracking of occupational therapy durable medical equipment (DME).
Assists with maintaining the treatment program based on the Occupational Therapist’s initial evaluation and treats accordingly as approved by the Occupational Therapist.
Records and signs treatments in patient’s medical record; records, signs, and dates clinical documentation according to Company policy and regulatory guidelines.
Notifies the Occupational Therapist and pertinent others of changes in condition or the need for reassessment of the Plan of Care to meet patient’s needs.
