What you will do
As a financial service leader you will lead the accounting department in a manner consistent with our mission and core values. Develop each employee to their highest potential by identifying their areas for improvement and appropriately coaching, training or correcting the employees. Along with holding employees accountable. As a leader you need to exhibit confidence in yourself and others, inspire and motivate others, and have a positive influence on the actions of others.
You will need to schedule meetings with employees on a monthly basis to review previous month’s performance as well as set goals for the future. Ensure department goals are met as established by First Harvest CU. Support and encourage staff to participate in available self-development programs and compliance courses.
Some of your duties in managing the accounting department will include, accounts receivables, payable, auditing and owner accounting. You will assist with the preparation of all monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial statements and the accuracy of its entries. Provide input for the budget for the department. Maintain and monitor general ledger and balance sheets on a daily basis, reconciles cash account and bank statements, research any differences. Review settlement of checks, cash letters and Federal Reserve activity. Review balance of Plateau and Money Market accounts daily, verifying funds are available for funding settlement. You may also need to answer telephone calls as needed and respond to member inquiries and requests and act as a back-up to the Wire/EFT process, posting entries to member’s accounts.
Qualification Requirements
Educational/Training Requirement:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Equivalent Experience
Experience:
Minimum 5 years in Accounting Department in a financial institution
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Accounting knowledge
Ability to develop adeptness in credit union and accounting software programs
Highly proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office
Excellent data entry skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to multitask
Ability to work independently and exercise judgment
