Qualifications:
• High school diploma (or equivalent)
• Three to five months maintenance experience (or related) or any equivalent combination of
education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities
for this position
• Meets the necessary health and physical qualifications; and
• Maintains current Tennessee driver’s license
Job Overview: Operates and maintains light and heavy equipment such as bulldozers, backhoes, dump
trucks, tractors, lawnmowers, weed eaters, welding machine, skill saw, table saws, etc.
Job Functions:
Repairs all broken items in and around schools such as cabinets, doors, bathroom stalls, windows,
tables, desks, and chairs.
Repairs flooring such as carpet and ceramic tiles.
Builds forms for sidewalks and concrete structures; pour and finishes concrete. Prepares walls for
hanging doors and windows.
Installs and repair ceiling fans.
Monitors conditions in and around schools and immediately removes materials or items that are
potentially dangerous.
Delivers supplies to and from maintenance warehouse.
Plans and constructs new rooms and storage areas in the schools. Fixes and replaces roofs when
necessary.
Practices good housekeeping by maintaining a neat and orderly shop; ensures all tools and equipment
are put away.
Makes minor electrical repairs and upkeep including running wire and conduit.
Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or
gathering information required to perform job functions.
Performs other related duties as required.
