Payroll Specialist – Enjoy a rewarding and challenging position with a nonprofit organization that has been helping educate, train, and provide employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities since 1955. We are currently seeking applicants for a full time Payroll Specialist that can complete basic bookkeeping and accounting tasks. The Payroll Specialist will also provide ongoing and proactive support for all inquiries pertaining to payroll functions, compliance, and best practices.
Applicants must have the ability to work Monday – Friday 8:00AM -4:30 PM.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Performs calculations, posting of accounts to journals or ledgers, and verifies accuracy.
– Prepares and reviews invoices, bills, vouchers, or other financial documents. Approves and processes payments.
– Analyzes customer accounts, responds to customers’ questions, and follows up to ensure timely payment is received. Negotiates past due payments as needed.
– Collaborates with staff of other departments to facilitate accounting functions.
– Maintains necessary copies, accurate files, and reports.
– Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of related accounting experience to include expertise with computerized accounting system and experience working with multiple revenue streams. Experience working with a nonprofit organization preferred.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
– Word processing, spreadsheet, and accounting software.
– General accounting procedures
– Policies and procedures of the organization and department
